Wicklow Town Heritage Trail Has Become A Key Attraction.
The free weekly guided walk of the new Wicklow Town Heritage Trail continues to attract an increasing number of international Tourists.
In recent weeks visitors from South Africa, North America, Brazil, Poland, France, Germany, Spain, and the UK have all taken part and gained a great insight into the rich local Heritage & History of Wicklow Town.
The local Volunteer Guides have also welcomed many Irish tourists visiting the area, and have noted a significant level of interest among many new residents to the area keen to learn the local folklore and stories that the trail provides.
In recent weeks many long- time residents of the town have joined the weekly trail and have been astounded by the rich history that lies on their doorstep.
The free weekly guided walks continues each Saturday starting in Fitzwilliam Square at 11 am until the end of September and takes about 90 minutes to complete.
There are eight storyboards located throughout Wicklow Town each with a QR code which enables participants to watch a video on their phone, telling them the story of each key location. The actors featured on the videos are members of the local dramatic society.
The volunteer guides are delighted with the public response this year and look forward to guiding many more tourists this year until the season concludes on September 27th.
