Wicklow Town Heritage Trail – now attracting community groups to visit Wicklow Town

The Wicklow Town Heritage Trail has so far this year attracted a number of community groups in the Dublin area to experience the rich history and heritage of Wicklow Town. On the 23rd May, 50 members of the Northern Ireland based Bangor Community Choir arrive to complete the trail.

On the 30th of May 20 members from The Swiss Club of Ireland have booked to take part in the trail. This booking comes on the back of very positive Tripadvisor reviews on what has now become a key tourist attraction in Wicklow Town. Pascal Burke (coordinator for the trail) said that the increased interest in the Wicklow Town Heritage Trail is a testimony to the work of the volunteer guides, who provide their services each week from Easter Sunday until the end of September.

Locals, Visitors and Tourists are all welcome to take part in what is a very informative & entertaining guided Free Trail detailing the rich history of Wicklow Town from the landing of St Patrick in 432 until the end of the Irish Civil War in 1923.

There are seven Storyboards located throughout the Town illustrating key moments in the rich history of Wicklow Town. On each storyboard, there is a QR code which enables participants to watch a video on their phone, telling them the story of each key location. The actors featured on the videos are members of the local dramatic society.
