Wicklow Town Showcases Warm Welcome and Visitor Appeal Through Community Initiative
The Wicklow Town Team Tourism and Hospitality Group continues to strengthen Wicklow Town’s reputation as a vibrant and welcoming visitor destination, offering a wide range of activities for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and day-trippers alike. From scenic coastal experiences to a variety of friendly shops, cafés, and dining options, the town provides something for everyone.
Despite limited accommodation within the town itself, Wicklow remains a popular destination for thousands of visitors who stay in nearby options ranging from caravans and glamping sites to luxury five-star hotels. Conveniently located less than an hour from Dublin via motorway and supported by excellent public transport links, Wicklow Town is an easily accessible getaway.
As part of its ongoing efforts to encourage repeat visits, the Tourism and Hospitality Group recently collaborated with local tourism providers and retailers to enhance the experience of participants attending the Volkswagen Finance Half Marathon and 10K, organised by the Bear Group on 22nd March.
The event attracted just under 3,000 participants, with over 1,000 promotional draw tickets distributed across local businesses open on the day. Participating businesses included Nick’s Coffee, Gabrielle’s Cards n Prints, Café Inspired, The Good Life, The Coffee Shop, The Sports Room, SuperValu, Nearby at Earls, Flannery’s, Wicklow Boat Charters, The Bridge Tavern, Phil’s, The High Court, and The Black Castle.
The initiative aimed to encourage visitors who came to Wicklow Town for the race to return in the future to explore the town at a more relaxed pace and experience its full range of offerings.
“We look forward to welcoming the race participants back to our town, where they can enjoy all that the town has to offer at a more leisurely pace,” said Myra Porter, Chair of the Wicklow Town Team.
