Two Hours of Free Parking in Wicklow Town this Christmas

Shoppers will enjoy two hours free Christmas parking in all Pay and Display Parking areas in Wicklow town from Monday,2nd December 2019, to Wednesday, 1st January 2020, inclusive.

There will be free parking at the Seafront Car Park for the Christmas period and traders and staff can also avail of this.

The initiative on special Christmas parking arrangements was agreed by the Cathaoirleach and Members of Wicklow Municipal District.

 Cathaoirleach Cllr Shay Cullen invited people to avail of the free parking over the Christmas period saying: “It’s an excellent opportunity to shop local for the festive season and enjoy all that Wicklow Town has to offer”.

Please note the Traffic Wardens will continue to monitor and enforce illegal parking during this time.

Loading Bay restricted hours between 9am to 12 noon, Monday to Friday, will also still apply.

Throughout the rest of the year the following applies to parking in Wicklow Town:

  • Free parking between 9.00 am and 10 am

  • 15 minute courtesy period applies

  • Saturday 2 hours free

  • Sunday free parking all day

Parking Tag

Cashless parking is available by using Parking Tag.  This service allows motorists to park by phone and extend their parking without returning to the vehicle.

How to use the service is available on www.parkingtag.ie   Motorists can register online or on the Parking Tag mobile app. 

Best Dressed Window

Wicklow Municipal District together with the Wicklow Town Team will sponsor a Best Dressed Christmas Window Competition.  The winner and runner-up will receive a Christmas Hamper and Wicklow Town Vouchers.

There is no need to formally enter the competition, but retailers must have their displays ready by Monday, 9th December.

 Wicklow Town Team Chairman, Dave Shannon, said: “Each year our businesses make every effort to encourage customers to shop local and the Christmas window displays helps to create a wonderful atmosphere in the town”

 The winners shall be announced at the Wicklow Municipal District Meeting on Monday, 16th December.
