Wicklow Town Team, Wicklow Municipal District and The Walls Project unite to Create Inspiring Community Engagement Workshops
Wicklow Town Team (WTT) and Wicklow Municipal District (WMD) are thrilled to announce an innovative collaboration with The Walls Project (TWP) , to organize a series of community engagement workshops. These workshops aim to gather valuable feedback from individuals interested in contributing to the creation of 'large scale public realm murals' in Wicklow Town.
Mark your calendars for July 8th, as the Parish Centre in Wicklow Town will host this event !!! The workshops will be divided into three sessions, each catering to different groups within the community:
Session 1 (10 am - 12 pm): For 18 to 24-year-olds
Session 2 (12:30 pm - 2:30 pm): Community and business session
Session 3 (3 pm - 5 pm): Community and business session
This inspiring project, aptly named the 'Connectivity' project, is focused on placemaking. Its core objective is to bring life and vibrancy back to the essential connections between Wicklow Town's main street, south quays, harbour, and market square. These beloved gathering spots have provided delightful experiences for both locals and visitors alike, offering moments of relaxation, dining, or just to savour having a cup of coffee.
The chosen mural locations are The Doctors Steps, Salthouse Lane, Quarantine Hill, Market Square, and Scouts Hall. These areas will serve as the canvas for the selected artists to explore the
overarching theme of 'Maritime' in their creations. The artwork will reflect the rich heritage of Wicklow Town and its historical ties to the Irish Sea, celebrating the town's connection to the water and its maritime history.
Leading this ambitious project is The Walls Project, a renowned creative arts agency based in Waterford. With their vast experience in community arts projects and a proven track record of creating numerous stunning murals in Waterford City, they are the ideal partner to oversee and manage this creative project.
