An Tairseach Spring Programme - The New Cosmology With Dr. Niamh Brennan (4-week course)

An Tairseach Spring Programme - The New Cosmology With Dr. Niamh Brennan (4-week course)

Over four weeks, Niamh Brennan will focus on the relationship between cosmology, ecology, spirituality, and the human. This course runs as a series of courses running over 4 days on the following dates:

Friday 13th March, 9:30am – 12:30pm

Friday 20th March, 9:30am – 12:30pm

Friday 10th April, 9:30am – 12:30pm

Friday 24th April, 9:30am – 5pm (Full Day)

For those who study the human story, cosmology means the Mega Story—the 13.8 billion year story of life’s unfolding.  Did you know that the human story and the universe story are inextricably linked?  Do you know the universe story?  Do you know that you are made from the same elements as the stars, and that the universe and you are still evolving—that everything in creation is related? In light of what you will learn, the question to ponder is: how will you live your precious life?  What can you do?  How can your inner life shape the exterior world at a time when the planet we call home is so endangered?  You can make a difference!

Optional extra: €20 per day for a delicious two course lunch prepared by our Chef using the best of organic produce from An Tairseach’s Farm. Please order when booking.

An Tairseach Spring Programme - Incarnating The Human, New Theological Horizons With Dr. Diarmuid O'Murchu (3-day course)

Based on the scholarly study of our seven-million-year evolutionary story, this course explores the implications of naming and integrating our identity as Earthlings; along with the ensuing responsibilities that arise from this expanded understanding of our human identity. Diarmuid will offer us a version of the human story more appropriate to match the elegance of the cosmic story, grounded in the sacredness of Creation. He will speak to the new horizons for understanding our Christian faith arising from multidisciplinary research today.

  • What do we mean by Incarnation?

  • How can the Jesus story be made congruent with the enlarged story of science and cosmology?

  • What new theological horizons might emerge from our evolving human story?

An Tairseach Spring Programme - Evolutionary Body Wisdom With Felix Wittmann

An Tairseach Spring Programme - Evolutionary Body Wisdom With Felix Wittmann

“Your nervous system dictates what you think, the sensations you experience, how you feel emotionally, all of your behavioural patterns, which actions you take and which you don’t. Basically, your whole human experience is, first and foremost, governed by your autonomic nervous system. Learning to understand and “speak” the language of the body should be a priority. Understanding how stress and trauma affect and impact our body should be common knowledge, not something only reserved for therapy.” – Felix Wittmann

Everything humans do comes from electrical signals in our nervous system. With every movement, breath and action this biological system lights up and we respond to life based on the information it gives us. This system impacts every aspect of our lives so why do we know so little about it?

Join us to learn how the human nervous system has evolved in relationship with the natural world, why it is one of the most intelligent technologies on planet earth and how to put this wisdom into practice.

In this 1-day training you will learn about how the nervous system functions, how trauma functions in the body, and how to implement this knowledge in your daily life and personal healing practice.

After the teaching sessions Felix will guide a gentle functional movement practice (suitable for all fitness levels) to help us embody the learnings bringing it from head to heart.

Especially relevant if you:

– work with vulnerable people on a regular basis,

– want to understand how to work with trauma in yourself and others, and

– to enhance, accelerate and ground your own healing journey into the embodied wisdom of the human body.

An Tairseach Spring Programme - Evolutionary Somatic Healing Retreat With Felix Wittmann And Melanie O'Driscoll (2 Day Retreat)
Mar
27
9:30 am09:30

An Tairseach Spring Programme - Evolutionary Somatic Healing Retreat With Felix Wittmann And Melanie O'Driscoll (2 Day Retreat)

Join for 2 days as we explore how the human nervous system has evolved in relationship with the natural world, why it is one of the most intelligent technologies on planet earth and how to put this wisdom into practice.

Combining both day events offered on Friday 27th March and Saturday 28th March, we recommend making a longer retreat of the 2 sessions by staying overnight in our beautiful Ecology centre with views of Wicklow harbour and our Organic Farm.

Everything humans do comes from electrical signals in our nervous system. With every movement, breath and action this biological system lights up and we respond to life based on the information it gives us. This system impacts every aspect of our lives so why do we know so little about it? The human body is the most intelligent technology on the planet and yet most of us know very little about how to fully embody our human and divine potentiality.

Over 2 days you will learn about how the nervous system functions, how trauma functions in the body, and how to implement this knowledge in your daily life and personal healing practice.

On the first day, after the teaching sessions, Felix will guide a gentle functional movement practice (suitable for all fitness levels) to help us embody the learnings bringing it from head to heart.

On the second day, we will further explore somatic healing, relational embodiment and prayer. In this space you’ll be gently guided to connect more fully to yourself, the others present, your ancestral heritage, and God, in a trauma-informed way.

This space will be led by Felix and Mel in a way that encourages exploration, curiosity and staying true to your own needs as the day evolves. For our body-based practices we will focus on the wisdom fields of the heart and spine.

In the realm of somatic healing, place-based wisdom is a huge support. On the second day we will work with the gardens and chapel at An Tairseach Farm and Ecology centre to explore how our environment can help resource body, mind and spirit in daily life.

This experiential retreat will create a space for you to share, reflect and leave transformed by the encounter of place, people and Grace.

An Tairseach Spring Programme - Somatic Healing Day Retreat With Felix Wittmann And Melanie O'Driscoll (1 Day Retreat)

An Tairseach Spring Programme - Somatic Healing Day Retreat With Felix Wittmann And Melanie O'Driscoll (1 Day Retreat)

The human body is the most intelligent technology on the planet and yet most of us know very little about how to fully embody our human and divine potentiality.

Join us on March 28th for a 1-day retreat to explore somatic healing, relational embodiment and prayer. In this space you’ll be gently guided to connect more fully to yourself, the others present, your ancestral heritage, and God in a trauma-informed way.

This space will be led by Felix and Mel in a way that encourages exploration, curiosity and staying true to your own needs as the day evolves. For our body-based practices we will focus on the wisdom fields of the heart and spine.

In the realm of somatic healing, place-based wisdom is a huge support. On the day we will work with the gardens and chapel at An Tairseach Farm and Ecology Centre to explore how our environment can help resource body, mind and spirit in daily life.

This experiential retreat will create a space for you to share, reflect and leave transformed by the encounter of place, people and Grace.

An Tairseach Spring Programme - Laudato Si And Teilhard With Arlene O'Flaherty OP, Jane Mellett, Simeiqi He PhD And Andrew MacIver PhD (3 Day Course)

Join for a three-day deep dive into the theological terrain of Laudato Si’ teachings of Pope Francis on our relationship to the natural environment we call home. This 3-day programme will include an introduction to Evolutionary Theology; a consideration of how Laudato Si’ teachings can be put into practice in our lives; how Pope Francis’s work has been informed by and links with Teilhard’s philosophies and what wisdom has been and can be excavated through archaeology.

Day 1:

Arlene Flaherty OP will offer an interactive introductory session on Monday build to both engage and inform participants on Laudato Si’ and introduce a context for evolutionary theology.

Day 2:

Jane Mellett will invite us the implications to justice and how the teachings of Laudato Si’ can help us engage with the world around us.

Day 3:

Simeiqi He & Andrew MacIver, from the Yale Forum on Religion and Ecology, will invite us to a Universal Communion by helping us see how Laudato Si’ and the philosophies of Teilhard link together through the science of archaeological study and discovery.

An Tairseach Spring Programme - Journey Of The Universe, Berry & Teilhard With Mary-Evelyn Tucker And John Grim

An Tairseach Spring Programme - Journey Of The Universe, Berry & Teilhard With Mary-Evelyn Tucker And John Grim

We are being called to a new mode of being human in the age of the Anthropocene. We are discovering our role within a vast evolving universe that gave birth to us and that orients and grounds us. We are seeking ways to nurture ourselves and the life community in an age of disruption and diminishment.

To envision this, we will explore the evolutionary thought of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and the ecological concerns of Thomas Berry. Together we call this an emerging Cosmo- ecology. We will also discuss how Journey of the Universe can inspire transformative change for a flourishing future. We will conclude with an examination of the Living Earth Community project.

This Session will include discussions on the teachings and philosophies of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Thomas Berry, Journey of the Universe and Living Earth Community. https://livingearthcommunity.com/

The afternoon will include a Q&A session with Mary-Evelyn & John.
