Over €300,000 in funding for Wicklow Town walking routes
Walking routes and paths around the town are to receive funding for development under the Active Travel Grants programme, which will bring over €9million into County Wicklow.
Wicklow Minister Simon Harris said: “The Active Travel Grants announced today will benefit 58 different projects across county Wicklow including safe pathways, routes to local train stations, and improvements in footpath access within rural villages.”
The funding announced today is particularly geared towards rural communitiess to ensure people have safe means of making short journeys by foot or by bicycle rather than being forced to use their car.
The following routes in Wicklow Town have received funding:
Rocky Road - €5,000
Wicklow Main St to Marlton Rd - €5,000
Bridge Street to Wicklow Port (incl. the Murrough) - €100,000
Convent Road one way - €100,000
Ballyguilemore Footpath - €200,000
