Wheels in Motion for Bike Week 2025: Pedal into Adventure, Romance, and Fun!
Wicklow, Ireland – Wicklow is gearing up for an exciting week on two wheels as Bike Week 2025 returns from May 10th to May 18th , bringing a full calendar of cycling celebrations to communities across the county. The centrepiece of the week’s events will be the Wicklow Town Bike Week Festival, taking place on Thursday, May 15th, from 4pm to 7pm in the Murrough Carpark.
This free, all-ages event promises an unforgettable afternoon of cycling fun, with a packed line-up designed to get everyone in the saddle. At the heart of the festival will be a full-sized Street Velodrome, offering visitors the chance to test their speed and skill in a thrilling, purpose-built track setup right in the Murrough Carpark overlooking the seafront.
Festival-goers can also enjoy a lively outdoor spin class, get the hang of pedalling at the Learn to Cycle area, or let their creativity run wild with Pimp My Bike, where bikes get a glow-up with colourful decorations, lights, and accessories.
Adding a completely new twist to this year’s festival is a never-before-seen event that’s set to turn heads—and maybe even turn into a love story. In a collaboration with TikTok influencer The Dating Orange, Wicklow is launching its first ever Singles Tandem Love Cycle. This fun and lighthearted blind date experience will pair up singles between the ages of 18 and 80+ for a scenic tandem bike ride through Wicklow Town. After a 30–40 minute spin together, each pair will be treated to a free pizza date to see if the sparks from the cycle lead anywhere special. The deadline to apply for the date is April 30th, visit www.Wicklowlsp.ie for more information.
Cathaoirleach Cllr. Paul O’Brien expressed his enthusiasm about this year’s unique programme:
“We are thrilled to bring such an energetic and inclusive line-up to Wicklow for Bike Week 2025. The new activities added for 2025 brings something totally different. I’d encourage everyone to come down to the Murrough for this years festival and street velodrome. We look forward to seeing the streets filled with bikes and big smiles.”
Beyond the flagship event in Wicklow Town, Bike Week will see activities taking place across the county throughout the week. Ballinastoe Woods will host mountain biking sessions while in Blessington, the pace will slow down with a Cycle and Sauna experience. For those keen to build confidence or learn the ropes, Learn to Cycle sessions and Bike Maintenance Workshops will be running in various locations countywide, offering valuable skills for riders of all ages and abilities.
Emer O’Gorman, Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, highlighted the importance of the week:
